Description
Part of the series Echoes, this photograph shows a grass track curving up a mist-covered hillside through russet bracken, with rock outcrops on the right.
Winner of Feature Shoot's Print Swap, this photograph was exhibited in Luminous Landscape at the Black Eye Gallery in Sydney.
Echoes is a study of childhood memories and the places we grew up in. I returned to the houses, streets and landscapes that imprinted themselves on my early life and photographed them as they are now, without intervention. No matter how altered, neglected or unrecognisable they had become, they were allowed to stand in their present form. The work holds the persistence of memory and the reality of change in a single frame.
Each photograph is both a document and a mirror: a record of a moment when light fell on form, and a reflection of the way the past lingers in the present. Echoes is not about nostalgia but about recognition, and the continual dialogue between what once was and what is.
Printed to archival fine art standards, this piece brings a quiet, atmospheric stillness and depth to any space.
